Mario Doiron: A New Brunswick Gardening Mentor

I’m a homesteader from a long line of self-reliant homesteaders. I garden and grow roughly 60 percent of my own food (traditional & permaculture style), grow and care for fruit trees, shrubs.
I also raise livestock (poultry, pork) and process my own meat (former meat department manager at the St-Paul Co-op), make preserves, manage a coppiced woodlot for sustainable firewood production.
I also hunt, fish and forage for wild foods (including wild mushrooms, edible and medicinal herbs etc.) In other words: I have a lot of old timely skills to share.
Some more of my background: I’m an environmental technician, working with the Friends of the Kouchibouguacis watershed group. I’m a graphic artist by trade (retired in 2013) with a background in screen printing, sports team and corporate branding as well as marketing. I also paint landscapes, wildlife and portraits and have over a decade of teaching experience (all ages) in fine arts, drawing, cartooning and painting.
